Children Fully Vaccinated under Mission Indradhanush as of May 2016

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) has launched Mission Indradhanush on 25th December 2014 with the aim of expanding immunization coverage to all children across India by year 2020. The Mission Indradhanush, depicting seven colours of the rainbow, targets to immunize all children against seven vaccine preventable diseases namely Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Childhood Tuberculosis, Polio, Hepatitis B and Measles. In addition to this, vaccines for JE (Japanese Encephalitis) and Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type B) are also being provided in selected states.

The number of children fully vaccinated in India was 3870447 as of May 2016. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of the number of children fully vaccinated were: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh as of May 2016.

The number of children fully vaccinated in Uttar Pradesh was 1403652 as of May 2016. It accounted for 36.27% of the number of children fully vaccinated in India as of May 2016.

The number of children fully vaccinated in Madhya Pradesh was 340160 as of May 2016. It accounted for 8.79% of the number of children fully vaccinated in India as of May 2016. The number of children fully vaccinated in Rajasthan was 332445 as of May 2016. It accounted for 8.59% of the number of children fully vaccinated in India as of May 2016.

The number of children fully vaccinated in Delhi was 214034 as of May 2016. It accounted for 5.53% of the number of children fully vaccinated in India as of May 2016. The number of children fully vaccinated in Haryana was 190748 as of May 2016. It accounted for 4.93% of the number of children fully vaccinated in India as of May 2016.

These top 5 States/UTs accounted for 64.11% of the total number of children fully vaccinated in India as a whole as of May 2016.

The number of children fully vaccinated in Tamil Nadu was 181781 as of May 2016 (4.7% of All India). The number of children fully vaccinated in Bihar was 168789 as of May 2016 (4.36% of All India). The number of children fully vaccinated in Jharkhand was 149525 as of May 2016 (3.86% of All India). The number of children fully vaccinated in Gujarat was 119293 as of May 2016 (3.08% of All India). The number of children fully vaccinated in Chhattisgarh was 119012 as of May 2016 (3.07% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 States/UTs accounted for 83.18% of the total number of children fully vaccinated in India as a whole as of May 2016.

Note: In the UT of Andaman and Nicobar, though they have reached to 32 children but none fully vaccinated; In the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, 24 additional districts covered under State initiative; Source: Rajya Sabha Session – 239 Unstarred Question No. 1088.
