Cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDS Project from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016

The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) in India from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 ending on 03-04-2016 was 41. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in India was 2890. The total number of deaths was 4. The average number of cases per outbreak was approximately 70 in India.

The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Gujarat from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 ending on 03-04-2016 was 5. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Gujarat was 162. The number of deaths was 1. The average number of cases per outbreak was 32 in Gujarat. The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Haryana from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 was 2. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Haryana was 42. The average number of cases per outbreak was 21 in Haryana.

The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Himachal Pradesh from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 was 1. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Himachal Pradesh was 1531. The number of deaths was 3. The average number of cases per outbreak was 1531 in Himachal Pradesh. Thus, Himachal Pradesh had the most severe outbreak as well as widely spread during the period under discussion.

The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Jammu and Kashmir from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 was 7. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Jammu and Kashmir was 531.  The average number of cases per outbreak was 76 in Jammu and Kashmir. The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Karnataka from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 was 3. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Karnataka was 27. The average number of cases per outbreak was 9 in Karnataka.

The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Kerala from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 was 11. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Kerala was 301.  The average number of cases per outbreak was 27 in Kerala. The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Maharashtra from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 was 1. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Maharashtra was 19.  The average number of cases per outbreak was 19 in Maharashtra. The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Odisha from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 was 4. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Odisha was 94.  The average number of cases per outbreak was 24 in Odisha.

The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Punjab from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 was 6. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in Punjab was 162.  The average number of cases per outbreak was 27 in Punjab. The number of outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in West Bengal from 36th Week of 2015 to 13th Week of 2016 was 1. The total number of cases of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP in West Bengal was 21.  The average number of cases per outbreak was 21 in West Bengal.

There were deaths only in two states due to outbreaks of Viral Hepatitis A and E reported under IDSP viz. Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh during the period under discussion.
