Doctors at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) as on 31st March 2014

The number of doctors in position at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in India was 27355 as on 31st March 2014. The top 10 states in terms of the number of doctors in position at PHCs were: Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir and Kerala as on 31st March 2014.

The number of doctors in position at PHCs in Andhra Pradesh was 3118 as on 31st March 2014. It accounted for 11.4% of the number of doctors in position at PHCs in India as on 31st March 2014. The number of doctors in position at PHCs in Bihar was 2521 as on 31st March 2014. It accounted for 9.22% of the number of doctors in position at PHCs in India as on 31st March 2014. The number of doctors in position at PHCs in Maharashtra was 2506 as on 31st March 2014. It accounted for 9.16% of the number of doctors in position at PHCs in India as on 31st March 2014. The number of doctors in position at PHCs in Uttar Pradesh was 2209 as on 31st March 2014. It accounted for 8.08% of the number of doctors in position at PHCs in India as on 31st March 2014. The number of doctors in position at PHCs in Karnataka was 2155 as on 31st March 2014. It accounted for 7.88% of the number of doctors in position at PHCs in India as on 31st March 2014. These top 5 states accounted for 45.74% of the total number of doctors in position at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in India as a whole as on 31st March 2014.

The number of doctors in position at PHCs in Tamil Nadu was 2139 as on 31st March 2014 (7.82% of All India). The number of doctors in position at PHCs in Rajasthan was 2111 as on 31st March 2014 (7.72% of All India). The number of doctors in position at PHCs in Assam was 1355 as on 31st March 2014 (4.95% of All India). The number of doctors in position at PHCs in Jammu and Kashmir was 1224 as on 31st March 2014 (4.47% of All India). The number of doctors in position at PHCs in Kerala was 1168 as on 31st March 2014 (4.27% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 74.97% of the total number of doctors in position at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in India as a whole as on 31st March 2014.
