The state of Sikkim has shown better growth rate in Domestic Product and also in the gross enrolment ratio at primary/upper primary level as compared to the growth rate in Domestic Product and in the gross enrolment ratio at primary/upper primary level in India as a whole during the periods under consideration.

The better growth rate in gross domestic product and higher gross enrolment ratio at primary/upper primary level are mutually reinforcing factors. While educated workforce lead to higher domestic product in a state or country; the higher level of gross domestic product provide incentives and resources for better and higher educational facilities.
