Installed Electricity Generation Capacity as on 30.11.2015

The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in India was Rs. 196204.4 megawatt as on 30.11.2015. The top 10 states in terms of the installed thermal electricity generation capacity were: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Punjab as on 30.11.2015.

The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in Maharashtra was Rs. 28294.09 megawatt as on 30.11.2015. It accounted for 14.42% of the installed thermal electricity generation capacity in India as on 30.11.2015. The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in Gujarat was Rs. 23159.81 megawatt as on 30.11.2015. It accounted for 11.8% of the installed thermal electricity generation capacity in India as on 30.11.2015. The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in Chhattisgarh was Rs. 13593.69 megawatt as on 30.11.2015. It accounted for 6.93% of the installed thermal electricity generation capacity in India as on 30.11.2015. The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in Uttar Pradesh was Rs. 12227.92 megawatt as on 30.11.2015. It accounted for 6.23% of the installed thermal electricity generation capacity in India as on 30.11.2015. The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in Tamil Nadu was Rs. 12214.11 megawatt as on 30.11.2015. It accounted for 6.23% of the installed thermal electricity generation capacity in India as on 30.11.2015. These top 5 states accounted for 45.61% of the total installed thermal electricity generation capacity in India as a whole as on 30.11.2015.

The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in Madhya Pradesh was Rs. 11511.43 megawatt as on 30.11.2015 (5.87% of All India). The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in Rajasthan was Rs. 10225.75 megawatt as on 30.11.2015 (5.21% of All India). The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in Andhra Pradesh was Rs. 9708.83 megawatt as on 30.11.2015 (4.95% of All India). The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in West Bengal was Rs. 8183.83 megawatt as on 30.11.2015 (4.17% of All India). The installed thermal electricity generation capacity in Punjab was Rs. 7393.8 megawatt as on 30.11.2015 (3.77% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 69.58% of the total installed thermal electricity generation capacity in India as a whole as on 30.11.2015.
