In 2011, among the top export items of the world at the SITC 3-Digit level classification, India has only 14 items with a share of 4 per cent and above and only 7 items with a share of 5 per cent and above.
India acquires a high share in world exports for items such as Pearls, Precious Stones, Semi-Precious Stones (19.6%), Spices (18%), Rice (17%) and Tea (11%). Although, ‘Textile Yarn’ and ‘Cereals & Cereal Preparations’ rank higher in terms of Quantity exported as compared to Rice, Spices and Tea, however, their share in world exports is small.
