Number of Nationalized Bank Branches Per Lakh Households – 2012

At the end of March, 2012 there were 70455 nationalized bank branches across India, with each such nationalized branch covering roughly 17200 persons. The coverage with respect to number of households (census – 2011) for all India, turns out to be 28 per lakh household. The number of such nationalized branches coverage for each lakh household in the states is observed to be higher in the Northern India with States/UTs like Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Delhi having more than 60 branches per lakh household while states like Bihar, Assam, Chhattisgarh and Jammu & Kashmir has less than 20 nationalized branches in the states for per lakh population.
