State/UT-wise Percentage Share in Total Registered Motor Vehicles, 2001 and 2012

Maharashtra has highest percentage share 12.184% in total registered motor vehicles in 2012. Lakshadweep has lowest percentage share 0.006% in total registered motor vehicles in 2012. Percentage share in total registered motor vehicles has increased in Tamil Nadu 1.53% followed by Uttar Pradesh 0.735% and Andhra Pradesh 0.578% during 2001-2012. Percentage share in total registered motor vehicles has decreased in Delhi 2.002% followed by Punjab 1.365% and Gujarat 1.102% during 2001-2012. A consistent growth has been seen in Assam, Chhattisgarh and Odisha during 2001-2012.
