During 2004-12, Gross Domestic Savings (GDS) increased by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.83% from 1050703 crore in 2004-05 to 2765291 crore in 2012-13.
Estimates of domestic saving are provided at current prices only by type of institutions i.e., public sector, private corporate sector and household sector (residual), separately.
During 2004-12, the saving of the household sector has increased by a CAGR of 14.77% from 763685 crore in 2004-05 to 2003720 crore in 2011-12 and the saving of private corporate sector has gone up by a CAGR of 17.17% from 212519 crore in 2004-05 to 644473 crore in 2011-12. During this period, the saving of public sector has gone up by a CAGR of 6.67% from 74499 crore in 2004-05 to 117097 crore in 2011-12, however in comparison to 2010-11, it declined by 41.4%. During 2004-12, the maximum saving of public sector was observed in the year 2007-08, when it reached to 248962 crore and saving of public sector reached to its eight years low of 10585 crore in the year 2009-10.
Gross Domestic Capital Formation has increased by a CAGR of 16.73%, from 1064041 crore in 2004-05 to 3141465 crore in 2011-12 at current prices.
