All India Index of Industrial Production of Top 5 Sectors According to Weights during 2005-2013

Top 5 sectors according to weights are Manufacturing (755.27), Mining and Quarrying (141.57), Basic metals (113.35), Electricity (103.16) and Chemicals/Chemical Products (100.59).

The General Index in 2012-13 stood at 172.2, which grew at an average annual growth rate of 6.9% during 2005-2013. The Indices of Industrial Production for the Manufacturing, Mining and Quarrying, Basic metals, Electricity, Chemicals and chemical products in 2012-13 stood at 183.30, 125.50, 195.80, 155.20 and 127.30, with the corresponding average annual growth rates of 7.7%, 3.0%, 8.0%, 5.7% and 3.4% respectively during 2005-2013.

In 2012-13, the Indices of Industrial Production for the Manufacturing, Basic metals, Electricity, Chemicals and chemical products grew at 1.3%, 1.9%, 4.0%, 3.7% and 1.1% respectively , whereas Mining and Quarrying declined by 2.3% as compared to 2011-12.
