Railway Density of India During 2002-2012

Railway density is measured as train kilometres per running track.

During 2002-12, railway density in suburban area has increased by 5.5%, from 44 km/day to 46.4 km/day, but in comparison to 2010-11, it declined by 0.6% from 46.7 km/day. During this period, railway density in non suburban area has increased by 27.6% from 15.2 km/day to 19.4 km/day.
