Estimates of Cow Milk Production across India during 2007-08 to 2011-12

India has witnessed an increasing trend in estimates of cow milk production during 2007-2012. In 2007-08, cow milk production was 22809 thousand tonnes across the country, which increased to 26695 thousand tonnes in 2011-12. Highest cow milk production (4104 thousand tonnes) was in Uttar Pradesh in 2011-12 followed by 3353 thousand tonnes in in 2007-08 as compared to other states.

The lowest cow milk production (1 thousand tonne) was in Chandigarh, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep and Puducherry in 2011-12 and 0.2 thousand tonne in Nagaland in 2007-08 and as compared to other states.

Note: Sikkim, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Delhi figures from 2007-08 onwards are estimated based on the number of animals in milk as per livestock census 2007. Totals may not tally due to rounding off of the figures.
