Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY) came into effect from 01.01.2013 with main features: insurance cover of Rs.30,000 & Permanent Total Disability/ death due to accident cover of Rs.75,000 and Free Add-on benefit of scholarship of Rs.100/= per month for each child to a maximum of two children of the beneficiary studying between 9th to 12th Standard.
The top 10 States in terms of New Lives Covered as on 31.12.2013 are: Andhra Pradesh (498879), Maharashtra (456549), Madhya Pradesh (334217), Tamil Nadu (198609), Karnataka (140324), Rajasthan (113087), Gujarat (96922), Bihar (51600), Kerala (48856) and Chhattisgarh (42069). In India, 2144012 New Lives have been covered under AABY as on 31.12.2013.
The top 3 States having the largest Claims Settled Amount wise are Andhra Pradesh (Rs.610876 Thousand), Maharashtra (Rs.86680 Thousand), Madhya Pradesh (Rs.77625 Thousand); having the same order as in case of New Lives covered. This is a reflection of the demonstration effect of claims settled on other persons particularly the acquaintances of the recipients of the claims, who become eager to seek coverage of their lives under AABY.
