Estimates of Egg Production during 2008-09 to 2012-13

The total production of eggs in India was 555624.39 lakhs during the year 2008-09. It increased to 697307.17 lakhs during the year 2012-13. There was an absolute growth of 141682.78 lakhs (25.5%) in the production of eggs over 2008-09.

In the year 2012-13, Top 5 states were: Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Haryana. The total production of eggs in Andhra Pradesh was 183446.36 lakhs during the year 2008-09. It increased to 222973.83 lakhs during the year 2012-13. There was an absolute growth of 39527.47 lakhs (21.55%) in the production of eggs over 2008-09. Andhra Pradesh accounted for 31.98% of total production of eggs in India in 2012-13.

The total production of eggs in Tamil Nadu was 88097.59 lakhs during the year 2008-09. It increased to 119333.55 lakhs during the year 2012-13. There was an absolute growth of 31235.96 lakhs (35.46%) in the production of eggs over 2008-09. Tamil Nadu accounted for 17.11% of total production of eggs in India in 2012-13.

The total production of eggs in West Bengal was 33055.7 lakhs during the year 2008-09. It increased to 47114.91 lakhs during the year 2012-13. There was an absolute growth of 14059.21 lakhs (42.53%) in the production of eggs over 2008-09. West Bengal accounted for 6.76% of total production of eggs in India in 2012-13.

The total production of eggs in Maharashtra was 35502.28 lakhs during the year 2008-09. It increased to 45661.07 lakhs during the year 2012-13. There was an absolute growth of 10158.79 lakhs (28.61%) in the production of eggs over 2008-09. Maharashtra accounted for 6.55% of total production of eggs in India in 2012-13.

The total production of eggs in Haryana was 38149.81 lakhs during the year 2008-09. It increased to 42342.66 lakhs during the year 2012-13. There was an absolute growth of 4192.85 lakhs (10.99%) in the production of eggs over 2008-09. Haryana accounted for 6.07% of total production of eggs in India in 2012-13.
