Annual Estimates of Total Meat Production in India during 2012-13 to 2013-14

The total Annual Estimates of Meat production in India was 5948.17 thousand tonnes during the year 2012-13. It increased to 6235.48 during the year 2013-14. There was an absolute growth of 287.31 thousand tonne(4.83%) in the production of Meat over 2012-13. Top 5 states in terms of Meat production were Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal. Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

The total production of Meat in Uttar Pradesh was 1136.85 thousand tonnes during the year 2012-13. It increased to 1221.25 thousand tonnes in the year 2013-14. There was an absolute growth of 84.4 thousand tonnes (7.42%) in the production of Meat over 2012-13. Uttar Pradesh accounted for 19.59% of total production of Meat in India in 2013-14. The total production of Meat in Andhra Pradesh was 906.23 thousand tonnes during the year 2012-13. It increased to 934.75 thousand tones in the year 2013-14. There was an absolute growth of 28.52 thousand tonnes (3.15%) in the production of Meat over 2012-13. Andhra Pradesh accounted for 14.99% of total production of Meat in India in 2013-14. The total production of Meat in West Bengal was 648.36 thousand tonnes during the year 2012-13. It increased to 648.98 thousand tonnes in the year 2013-14.

There was an absolute growth of 0.62 thousand tonnes (0.1%) in the production of Meat over 2012-13. West Bengal accounted for 10.41% of total production of Meat in India in 2013-14. The total production of Meat in Maharashtra was 590.68 thousand tonnes during the year 2012-13. It increased to 604.63 thousand tonnes in the year 2013-14. There was an absolute growth of 13.95 thousand tonnes (2.36%) in the production of Meat over 2012-13. Maharashtra accounted for 9.70% of total production of Meat in India in 2013-14. The total production of Meat in Tamil Nadu was 462.34 thousand tonnes during the year 2012-13. It increased to 464.51 thousand tonnes in the year 2013-14. There was an absolute growth of 2.17 thousand tonnes (0.47%) in the production of Meat over 2012-13. Tamil Nadu accounted for 7.45% of total production of Meat in India in 2013-14.
