Total area afforested has increased from 36586 thousand hectares in 2002-03 to 38053 thousand hectares in 2012-13 showing growth of 1467 thousand hectares (4.01%). Total Expenditure of Rs. 144601. 4 Million has been incurred on afforestation.
Total area afforested has increased from 36586 thousand hectares in 2002-03 to 36869 thousand hectares in 2003-04 showing growth of 283 thousand hectares (0.77 %). Further, Total area afforested has increased from 36869 thousand hectares in 2003-04 to 36976 thousand hectares in 2004-05 showing growth of 107 thousand hectares (0.29 %); Total area afforested has increased from 36976 thousand hectares in 2004-05 to 37030 thousand hectares in 2005-06 showing growth of 54 thousand hectares (0.15 %); Total area afforested remained at similar levels at 37030 thousand hectares in 2006-07; Total area afforested has increased from 37030 thousand hectares in 2006-07 to 37523 thousand hectares in 2007-08 showing growth of 493 thousand hectares (1.33 %); Total area afforested has increased from 37523 thousand hectares in 2007-08 to 37696 thousand hectares in 2008-09 showing growth of 173 thousand hectares (0.46 %); Total area afforested has increased from 37696 thousand hectares in 2008-09 to 37800 thousand hectares in 2009-10 showing growth of 104 thousand hectares (0.28 %); Total area afforested has increased from 37800 thousand hectares in 2009-10 to 37857 thousand hectares in 2010-11 showing growth of 57 thousand hectares (0.15 %); Total area afforested has increased from 37857 thousand hectares in 2010-11 to 37997 thousand hectares in 2011-12 showing growth of 140 thousand hectares (0.37 %) and finally, Total area afforested has increased from 37997 thousand hectares in 2011-12 to 38053 thousand hectares in 2012-13 showing growth of 56 thousand hectares (0.15 %).
The highest growth of 493 thousand hectares (1.33 %) was recorded in the year of 2007-08.
