Incidence of kidnappings and abductions committed against children during 2013

The 10 States/UTs with highest incidence of kidnappings and abductions committed against children during 2013 are: Uttar Pradesh (6002 Kidnappings and Abductions); Delhi UT (5809 Kidnappings and Abductions); Madhya Pradesh (2262 Kidnappings and Abductions); Maharashtra (1698 Kidnappings and Abductions); Chhattisgarh (1634 Kidnappings and Abductions); Gujarat (1429 Kidnappings and Abductions); Rajasthan (1426 Kidnappings and Abductions); West Bengal (1388 Kidnappings and Abductions); Bihar (1180 Kidnappings and Abductions) and Andhra Pradesh (1014 Kidnappings and Abductions).

The 5 States/UTs with lowest incidence of kidnappings and abductions committed against children during 2013 are: Dadra & Nagar Haveli (10 Kidnappings and Abductions); Daman & Diu (8 Kidnappings and Abductions); Nagaland (4 Kidnappings and Abductions); Mizoram (2 Kidnappings and Abductions) and Lakshadweep (0 Kidnappings and Abductions).

In case of entire India, total incidence of kidnappings and abductions committed against children during 2013 was 28167. Uttar Pradesh accounts for 6002 Kidnappings and Abductions which is 21.31% of the total 28167 Kidnappings and Abductions in the entire country; Delhi accounts for 5809 Kidnappings and Abductions which is 20.62% of the total 28167 Kidnappings and Abductions in the entire country and Madhya Pradesh accounts for 2262 Kidnappings and Abductions which is 8.03% of the total 28167 Kidnappings and Abductions in the entire country. Thus, these 3 states/UTs accounted for 49.96% of total number of 28167 Kidnappings and Abductions of children across the country. However, it has to be kept in mind that these states also account for the large chunk of the population of the entire country.
