Average rural population covered by a Community Health Centre at All India level as on 31st March 2014 was 155463.
The States/UTs of Bihar, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, West Bengal, Assam, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh have more average rural population (ranging from 1319163 in case of Bihar to 157357 in Madhya Pradesh) covered by a Community Health Centre as compared to the national average of 155463. All other States/UTs than the above-mentioned ones, have better coverage of rural population by a Community Health Centre as compared to the national average.
The 10 States/UTs having the best coverage of rural population by a Community Health Centre are: Lakshadweep (4714 average rural population covered by a CHC); Chandigarh (14496 average rural population covered by a CHC); Arunachal Pradesh (20507 average rural population covered by a CHC); Daman & Diu (30198 average rural population covered by a CHC); Mizoram (58382 average rural population covered by a CHC); Andaman & Nicobar Islands (59273 average rural population covered by a CHC); Nagaland (67026 average rural population covered by a CHC); Kerala (77996 average rural population covered by a CHC); Himachal Pradesh (79180 average rural population covered by a CHC) and Meghalaya (87831 average rural population covered by a CHC).
