Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) – Policies procured from 2001-02 to 2013-14

The number of Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) – Policies procured has increased from 368527 in 2001-02 to 871462 in 2013-14. It has shown an increase of 502935 RPLI – Policies procured during this period. The average annual growth rate recorded during this period is 11.37%. However, there have been large fluctuations in RPLI – Policies procured in various financial years in the period between 2001-02 and 2013-14.

The top five years with the highest number of RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year in the period between 2001-02 and 2013-14 were: 2009-10 (4027863 RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year); 2010-11 (3636036 RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year); 2011-12 (2714856 RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year); 2012-13 (1634767 RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year) and 2005-06 (1443818 RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year).

The top five years with the highest % growth in the number of RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year in the period between 2001-02 and 2013-14 were: 2009-10 (334.8% growth in RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year); 2001-02 (127.19% growth in RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year); 2002-03 (90.64% growth in RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year); 2003-04 (54.18% growth in RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year) and 2004-05 (23.33% growth in RPLI – Policies procured during the financial year).

There was decline in RPLI – Policies procured in the seven financial years during the period between 2001-02 and 2013-14 which are as follows: 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14.
