Higher educational facilities provided to prisoners during 2013

The total number of the prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education in the year 2013 in whole of India was 8311.
Top 20 State/UTs in terms of the prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education in the year 2013 were: Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh.

Among the top 5 State/UTs in terms of the prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education in the year 2013, Uttar Pradesh was on the top having 1353 prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education, which was 16.28% of the total 8311 prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education in India.

Haryana had 1112 prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education, which was 13.38% of the total 8311 prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education in India; Delhi had 908 prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education, which was 10.93% of the total 8311 prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education in India; Maharashtra had 882 prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education, which was 10.61% of the total 8311 prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education in India and Gujarat had 875 prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education, which was 10.53% of the total 8311 prison inmates who benefitted by the facilities of Higher Education in India.
