State-wise Number of Total Active Non-Government Companies Limited by Shares as on 31.03.2014

The number of Total Active Non-Government Companies (both Public and Private) in India was 945276. Out of these 945276 Active Non-Government Companies, 61381 companies were public and 883895 companies were private.

The top ten states/UTs in terms of the number of Total Active Non-Government Companies (both Public and Private) were: Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kerala.

The number of Total Active Non-Government Companies (both Public and Private) in Delhi was 187405. Thus, Delhi accounted for 19.83% of the total number of active Non-Government Companies in India. The Total number of Active Non-Government Companies (both Public and Private) in Maharashtra was 187156. Thus, Maharashtra accounted for 19.80% of the total number of active Non-Government Companies in India. The number of Total Active Non-Government Companies (both Public and Private) in West Bengal was 133726. Thus, West Bengal accounted for 14.15% of the total number of active Non-Government Companies in India. Thus, Delhi, Maharashtra and West Bengal were the states/UTs which had more than 1 Lac Total Active Non-Government companies each.

The number of Total Active Non-Government Companies (both Public and Private) in Tamil Nadu was 64902. Thus, Tamil Nadu accounted for 6.87% of the total number of active Non-Government Companies in India. The number of Total Active Non-Government Companies (both Public and Private) in Andhra Pradesh was 59345. Thus, Andhra Pradesh accounted for 6.28% of the total number of active Non-Government Companies in India.
