Labour Force Participation Rate of Male (15-59 years age) as per CWS approach (July 2011- June 2012)

Labour-force participation rate (LFPR) is defined as the proportion of persons/person-days in the labour-force to the total person/person-days. These ratios are given in per 1000 of person/person-days.

The top 10 states/UTs in terms of labour force participation rate (per 1000) for Males of age 15-59 years according to current weekly status approach were: Daman & Diu with a labour force participation rate of 925 per thousand workers; Odisha with a labour force participation rate of 880 per thousand workers; Tripura with a labour force participation rate of 867 per thousand workers; Gujarat with a labour force participation rate of 865 per thousand workers; West Bengal with a labour force participation rate of 861 per thousand workers; Assam with a labour force participation rate of 851 per thousand workers; A & N Islands with a labour force participation rate of 849 per thousand workers; Lakshadweep with a labour force participation rate of 844 per thousand workers; Tamil Nadu with a labour force participation rate of 841 per thousand workers and Jharkhand with a labour force participation rate of 840 per thousand workers.

The 5 states/UTs in terms of lowest labour force participation rate were: Nagaland (765 per thousand workers); Jammu & Kashmir (763 per thousand workers); Puducherry (755 per thousand workers); Uttarakhand (754 per thousand workers) and Arunachal Pradesh (732 per thousand workers);

Note: Source: NSS 68th Round survey – Key indicators of Employment and Unemployment in India 2011-2012 for the survey period: July 2011 – June 2012; This estimate of LFPR approach provide information on number of persons in labour-force according to current weekly status i.e. number of persons either employed or unemployed on an average in a week of 7 days preceding the date of survey.
