Power Supply Position during the Financial Year: April 2014 – March 2015

In terms of peak power requirement and availability during the Financial Year: April 2014 – March 2015, India had deficit of -38143 Megawatt (MW) i.e. -3.6% (with peak requirement of 1068943 MW and peak power availability of 1030800 MW).
The 10 States/UTs with highest percentage of deficit in peak power supply during April 2014 – March 2015 are: Andaman and Nicobar Islands having deficit of -60 MW i.e. -25% (with peak requirement of 240 MW and peak power availability of 180 MW); Jammu and Kashmir having deficit of -3095 MW i.e. -19.1% (with peak requirement of 16214 MW and peak power availability of 13119 MW); Uttar Pradesh having deficit of -16117 MW i.e. -15.6% (with peak requirement of 103179 MW and peak power availability of 87062 MW); Tripura having deficit of -194 MW i.e. -15.6% (with peak requirement of 1242 MW and peak power availability of 1048 MW); Meghalaya having deficit of -296 MW i.e. -15.3% (with peak requirement of 1930 MW and peak power availability of 1634 MW); Arunachal Pradesh having deficit of -67 MW i.e. -9.9% (with peak requirement of 677 MW and peak power availability of 610 MW); Assam having deficit of -601 MW i.e. -7% (with peak requirement of 8527 MW and peak power availability of 7926 MW); Mizoram having deficit of -30 MW i.e. -6.6% (with peak requirement of 455 MW and peak power availability of 425 MW); Andhra Pradesh having deficit of -2885 MW i.e. -4.9% (with peak requirement of 59198 MW and peak power availability of 56313 MW) and Karnataka having deficit of -2717 MW i.e. -4.3% (with peak requirement of 62643 MW and peak power availability of 59926 MW).
Only the states of Chandigarh, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Sikkim had no deficit in terms of peak power requirement and availability during the Financial Year: April 2014 – March 2015.

Note: Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands are stand- alone systems, power supply position of these, does not form part of regional requirement and availability. Cumulative figures for Andhra Pradesh includes the figures of undivided Andhra Pradesh (including Telangana area) for the period Apr-May, 2014.
