In terms of peak power requirement and availability during the first half of the Financial Year 2015-16 i.e. the period of April 2015 – September 2015, India had power supply deficit of -4903 Megawatt (MW) i.e. -3.2% with peak demand of 153366 MW of power supply and peak availability of 148463 MW of power supply.
There were 7 States/UTs which had more than 10% deficit in peak power supply during the period of April 2015 – September 2015 viz. Uttar Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Meghalaya, Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Assam.
Uttar Pradesh had power supply deficit of -3467 MW (-20.4%) with peak demand of 16988 MW of power supply and peak availability of 13521 MW of power supply during April 2015 – September 2015. Andaman and Nicobar Islands had power supply deficit of -8 MW (-20%) with peak demand of 40 MW of power supply and peak availability of 32 MW of power supply during April 2015 – September 2015. Meghalaya had power supply deficit of -78 MW (-19.5%) with peak demand of 400 MW of power supply and peak availability of 322 MW of power supply during April 2015 – September 2015.
Jammu and Kashmir had power supply deficit of -411 MW (-16.9%) with peak demand of 2437 MW of power supply and peak availability of 2026 MW of power supply during April 2015 – September 2015. Arunachal Pradesh had power supply deficit of -16 MW (-11.6%) with peak demand of 138 MW of power supply and peak availability of 122 MW of power supply during April 2015 – September 2015. Tripura had power supply deficit of -32 MW (-10.7%) with peak demand of 300 MW of power supply and peak availability of 268 MW of power supply during April 2015 – September 2015. Assam had power supply deficit of -157 MW (-10.6%) with peak demand of 1487 MW of power supply and peak availability of 1330 MW of power supply during April 2015 – September 2015.
11 states/UTs had no deficit in terms of peak power requirement and availability during the first half of the Financial Year 2015-16 i.e. the period of April 2015 – September 2015.
