Deaths in Road Accidents during 2014

The total number of deaths in road accidents in India was 141526 during 2014. The top 10 states/UTs in terms of deaths in road accidents in India during 2014 were: Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana and West Bengal.

The total number of deaths in road accidents in Uttar Pradesh was 16284 during 2014, which was 11.51% of the total number of deaths in road accidents in India during the year. The total number of deaths in road accidents in Tamil Nadu was 15190 during 2014, which was 10.73% of the total number of deaths in road accidents in India during the year. The total number of deaths in road accidents in Maharashtra was 13529 during 2014, which was 9.56% of the total number of deaths in road accidents in India during the year.

The total number of deaths in road accidents in Karnataka was 10444 during 2014, which was 7.38% of the total number of deaths in road accidents in India during the year. The total number of deaths in road accidents in Rajasthan was 10287 during 2014, which was 7.27% of the total number of deaths in road accidents in India during the year.

In fact, these top 5 states accounted for almost half i.e. 46.45% of the total number of deaths in road accidents in India during 2014.
