COVID-19 Month wise RT-PCR Tests against Positive Cases in Tamil Nadu from January 2021 to July 2021

Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19) the infectious disease caused by a newly discovered Corona Virus, spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person cough or sneeze. The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to protect yourself and others from infection, by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.

A Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test is performed to detect genetic material from a specific organism, such as a virus. The test detects the presence of a virus if you are infected at the time of the test. The test could also detect fragments of virus even after you are no longer infected. A PCR test for COVID-19 is a test used to diagnosis people who are currently infected with SARS-CoV-2, which is the corona virus that causes COVID-19.The PCR test is the “gold standard” test for diagnosing COVID-19 because it is the most accurate and reliable test.

The Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Government of Tamil Nadu is bringing out daily bulletin on the status of COVID-19 across districts wise in Tamil Nadu.

Based on the data available, a graph has been derived showing the Number of COVID-19 Positive Cases against the number of Samples tested by RT-PCR in Tamil Nadu, month wise from January 2021 to July 2021.
