Houses Completed and Central Assistance Released under PMAY (U) from 2015-16 to 2019-20

In pursuance of the Government’s vision of “Housing for All” by 2022, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) [PMAY (U)] since 25.06.2015 for providing assistance to States/Union Territories in addressing the housing requirement of the people belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Lower Income Group (LIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG) categories in urban areas.

The number of houses completed under PMAY (U) was 118,262 in India during 2015-16. It has surged by 9.23% to 129,173 during 2016-17 above 2015-16. We have seen annual growth of 153.92% in houses completed under PMAY (U) in India during 2017-18 over 2016-17. The number of houses completed under PMAY (U) was 1,816,621 in India during 2018-19, up by 453.86% against 327,993 during 2017-18. The number of houses completed under PMAY (U) was 102,472 in India during 2019-20.

The central assistance of Rs. 3,222.5 crore was released under PMAY (U) in India during 2015-16. It has surged by 42.67% to Rs. 4,597.68 crore during 2016-17 over 2015-16. Annual growth of 259.56% has been observed in release of central assistance under PMAY (U) in India during 2017-18 above 2016-17. The central assistance released under PMAY (U) was Rs. 25,113.62 crore in India during 2018-19, up by 51.92% versus Rs. 16,531.21 crore during 2017-18. The central assistance of Rs. 1,478.34 crore was released under PMAY (U) in India during 2019-20.
