The percentage of population using an improved drinking water source in rural areas in India was 94.57% during 2015-16. It has decreased by -22 basis points to 94.35% during 2016-17 over 2015-16. We have observed annual growth of 0.75% in percentage of population using an improved drinking water source in rural areas in India during 2018-19 from 95.23% during 2017-18. The percentage of population using an improved drinking water source in rural areas in India was 96.83% during 2019-20, up by 85 basis points against 95.98% during 2018-19.
The maximum value of 96.83% has been seen in 2019-20 in percentage of population using an improved drinking water source in rural areas in India during the period under consideration.
