Cow & Buffalo Milk Production in India from 2014-15 to 2018-19

India has witnessed an increasing trend in production of cow and buffalo milk from 2014-15 to 2018-19. However, we have seen compound annual growth rate of 7.84% and 5.29% in production of cow and buffalo milk respectively during the period under consideration.

Production of cow milk was 66,423.45 thousand tonnes in India in 2014-15. It has surged by 10.87% to 73,645.39 thousand tonnes during 2015-16 above 2014-15. Annual growth of 7.09% has been observed in cow milk production during 2017-18 from 78,098.88 thousand tonnes during 2016-17. Production of cow milk was 89,833.59 thousand tonnes in India during 2018-19, up by 7.41% versus 83,633.57 thousand tonnes during 2017-18.

Production of buffalo milk was 74,709.9 thousand tonnes in India in 2014-15. It has increased by 2.34% to 76,459 thousand tonnes during 2015-16 over 2014-15. We have found annual growth of 6.15% in buffalo milk production during 2017-18 from 81,266.3 thousand tonnes during 2016-17. Production of buffalo milk was 91,817.14 thousand tonnes in India during 2018-19, up by 6.44% against 86,261.68 thousand tonnes during 2017-18.
