Top 10 States/UTs with respect to Funds Allocated for Construction of National Highways during 2018-19

The allocation of funds for construction of National Highways (NHs) in India was Rs. 100,605.6, 109,453.84 and 130,083.56 crore from 2016-17 to 2018-19 respectively. We have observed annual growth of 8.79% during 2017-18 and 18.85% during 2018-19 in funds allocated for construction of NHs in India. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to funds allocated for construction of NHs during 2018-19 were Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, Rajasthan, Telangana and Uttarakhand.

The funds allocated for construction of NHs in Maharashtra was Rs. 7,050.88 crore during 2018-19, up by 137.72% against Rs. 2,966.03 crore during 2017-18. Annual growth of 26.9% has been seen in allocation of funds for construction of NHs in Andhra Pradesh from Rs. 1,781.18 crore during 2017-18 to Rs. 2,260.26 crore during 2018-19. The amount of Rs. 1,110.79 crore was allocated for construction of NHs in Uttar Pradesh during 2017-18. It has surged by 83.66% to Rs. 2,040.05 crore during 2018-19 above 2017-18. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh accounted for 5.42%, 1.74% and 1.57% respectively of the total funds allocated for construction of NHs in India during 2018-19.

There was allocation of Rs. 1,831.32 crore and Rs. 1,665 crore for construction of NHs in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh respectively during 2018-19. Chhattisgarh accounted for 1.41% and Madhya Pradesh accounted for 1.28% of the total funds allocated for construction of NHs in India during 2018-19.

During 2018-19, the allocation of funds for construction of NHs in Karnataka, Bihar, Rajasthan, Telangana and Uttarakhand was Rs. 1,630.02, 1,598.31, 1,295.87, 1,220 and 1,000.49 crore respectively.
