Revenue of Indian Railways from Passenger and Parcel Services from 2016-17 to 2019-20

India has witnessed an increasing trend in revenue from passenger services and decreasing trend in revenue from parcel services for Indian Railways from 2016-17 to 2018-19.

Revenue from passenger services was Rs. 46,280.46 crore for Indian Railways in 2016-17. It has surged by 5.11% to Rs. 48,643.14 crore during 2017-18 above 2016-17. We have observed annual growth of 4.98% in revenue from passenger services for Indian Railways to Rs. 51,066.65 crore during 2018-19 against 2017-18. Revenue from passenger services was Rs. 26,642.73 crore for Indian Railways during 2019-20 (September-2019).

Revenue from parcel services was Rs. 1,911.42 crore for Indian Railways in 2016-17. It has plunged by -8.49% to Rs. 1,749.23 crore during 2017-18 over 2016-17. Annual decline of -7.44% has been observed in revenue from parcel services for Indian Railways to Rs. 1,619.03 crore during 2018-19 versus 2017-18. Revenue from parcel services was Rs. 716.18 crore for Indian Railways during 2019-20 (September-2019).
