State/UT-wise Consumption of Major Petroleum Products during 2018-19

Total 213,216 thousand metric tonnes (TMT) of major petroleum products had been consumed in India during 2018-19. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to consumption of major petroleum products during 2018-19 were Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The major petroleum products consumed in Gujarat was 21,216 TMT during 2018-19, which accounted 9.95% of the total petroleum products consumed in India. There was consumption of 21,017 TMT major petroleum products in Maharashtra during 2018-19. It accounted 9.86% of the total petroleum products consumed in India during the same period. The major petroleum products consumed in Uttar Pradesh was 18,180 TMT during 2018-19, which accounted 8.53% of the total petroleum products consumed in India.

There was consumption of 14,421 and 13,206 TMT major petroleum products in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka respectively during 2018-19. Tamil Nadu accounted for 6.76% and Karnataka accounted for 6.19% of the total petroleum products consumed in India during 2018-19.
