State/UT-wise Cyber Crimes in India from 2016 to 2018

India has witnessed an upward trend of 76.96% in cyber crimes from 12,317 during 2016 to 21,796 during 2017. We have seen annual growth of 25.01% in cyber crimes in India to 27,248 during 2018 against 2017. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to cyber crimes during 2018 were Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Assam and Andhra Pradesh.

The number of cyber crimes in Uttar Pradesh was 6,280 during 2018, up by 26.33% versus 4,971 during 2017. Annual growth of 83.96% has been observed in cyber crimes in Karnataka from 3,174 during 2017 to 5,839 during 2018. The number of cyber crimes in Maharashtra was 3,604 in 2017. It has shrunk by -2.58% to 3,511 during 2018 above 2017. Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra accounted for 23.05%, 21.43% and 12.89% respectively of the total cyber crimes in India during 2018.

During 2018, there were 2,022 and 1,207 cyber crimes in Assam and Andhra Pradesh respectively. Assam accounted for 7.42% and Andhra Pradesh accounted for 4.43% of the total cyber crimes in India during 2018. Annual growth of 80.54% and 29.65% has been found in cyber crimes in Assam and Andhra Pradesh respectively during 2018 above 2017.
