Frauds committed & Amounts involved therein reported by SCBs & select Financial Institutions (frauds of Rs. 1 lakh & above) from 2014-15 to 2018-19

The number of frauds committed was 4269 during 2014-15 as reported by Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) and select financial institutions, in respect of frauds of Rs. 1 lakh and above. It has decreased by -1.45% to 4207 during 2015-16 above 2014-15. We have seen annual growth of 7.66% in frauds committed as reported by SCBs and select financial institutions, in respect of frauds of Rs. 1 lakh and above during 2017-18 from 3927 during 2016-17. Frauds committed as reported by SCBs and select financial institutions, in respect of frauds of Rs. 1 lakh and above was 2836 during 2018-19, down by -32.92% against 4228 during 2017-18.

The amount of frauds committed was Rs. 23695 crore during 2014-15 as reported by SCBs and select financial institutions, in respect of frauds of Rs. 1 lakh and above. It has decreased by -29.19% to Rs. 16779 crore during 2015-16 above 2014-15. Annual decline of -61.88% has been observed in amount of frauds committed as reported by SCBs and select financial institutions, in respect of frauds of Rs. 1 lakh and above during 2017-18 from Rs. 25884 crore during 2016-17. Amount of frauds committed as reported by SCBs and select financial institutions, in respect of frauds of Rs. 1 lakh and above was Rs. 6735 crore during 2018-19, down by -31.74% versus Rs. 9866 crore during 2017-18.
