Progress Update of Tamil Nadu Open Government Data Portal as on 31.12.2019

The Open Government Data Portal of Tamil Nadu has been set up at https://tn.data.gov.in to provide collated access to the resources (data-sets/apps) under catalogs, published by different government departments  of Government of Tamil Nadu in open data structured format. The portal presently has 16,914 resources / data-sets in 1,061 Catalogs from 56 departments.

An Awareness training programme was conducted on the features of TNOGD portal for  80 officials from 38 Secretariat Departments on 19th December 2019, at “Grand by GRT Hotels”, Chennai. The programme has briefly covered in details on the objectives of the TNOGD portal and the Visualization Tool, https://visualize.data.gov.in, which is embedded within the TNOGD portal and a live demo on the visualization tool was presented to the participants during the session.

The data at the district levels published by the Department of Economics & Statistics  through District Hand Books (DHB) for the year 2017-18, with respect to  the districts of  Karur and Tiruvannamalai were uploaded in the TNOGD portal for the first time.

In addition, the datasets from the Department of Minorities Welfare for the period 2017-18 have been updated in the portal, covering the following areas:

• Year Wise Scholarship Schemes available for the students under Minorities Welfare in Tamil Nadu.
• Time Series Data – Financial Assistance for Jerusalem Pilgrimage in Tamil Nadu from 2013-14 to 2017-18.
• Scheme-wise Performance Details of Ulemas and Other Employees Welfare Board in Tamil Nadu.
