Top 10 States/UTs with respect to Central Funds released under DAY-NULM during 2015-16 to 2017-18

Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs is administering a scheme of ‘Shelter for Urban Homeless’ (SUH) as one of the components of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), through respective States/UTs. It focuses on providing permanent shelters to the urban homeless.

During 2015-16 to 2017-18, total central funds of Rs. 1086.16 crore had been released under DAY-NULM to States/UTs. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to Central funds released under DAY-NULM during 2015-16 to 2017-18 were Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Mizoram and West Bengal.

Central funds released to Tamil Nadu was Rs. 195.16 crore under DAY-NULM during 2015-16 to 2017-18, which accounted 17.97% of the total funds released in India under DAY-NULM. The amount of Rs. 112.03 crore was being released by centre to Uttar Pradesh under DAY-NULM during 2015-16 to 2017-18. It accounted 10.31% of the total funds released in India under DAY-NULM during the same period. Central funds released to Andhra Pradesh was Rs. 107.61 crore under DAY-NULM during 2015-16 to 2017-18, which accounted 9.91% of the total funds released in India under DAY-NULM.

Under DAY-NULM, amount released to Telangana and Madhya Pradesh was Rs. 77.07 crore and Rs. 75.55 crore respectively during 2015-16 to 2017-18. Telangana accounted for 7.1% and Madhya Pradesh accounted for 6.96% of the total central funds released in India under DAY-NULM during 2015-16 to 2017-18.

There was release of Rs. 74.86, 65.81, 48.11, 43.98, 41.27 crore by centre to Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Mizoram and West Bengal respectively under DAY-NULM during 2015-16 to 2017-18. These aforementioned top 10 states accounted for 77.47% of the total central funds released under DAY-NULM in India as a whole during 2015-16 to 2017-18.
