Top 5 States with respect to Production of Iron Ore in India during 2017-18

Production of Iron Ore was 200955 thousand tonne in India during 2017-18, up by 3.27% versus 194584 thousand tonne during 2016-17. Its value was Rs. 252291800 thousand during 2016-17 and Rs. 342628915 thousand during 2017-18. There are ten states namely Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telangana in India in which production of Iron Ore has been seen during 2015-16 to 2017-18. The top 5 states with respect to production of Iron Ore in India during 2017-18 were Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Goa.

Production of Iron Ore was 79856 thousand tonne in Odisha during 2015-16. It has increased by 24.74% to 99614 thousand tonne during 2016-17 over 2015-16. We have observed annual growth of 2.57% in production of Iron Ore in Odisha to 102177 thousand tonne during 2017-18 above 2016-17. In value term it was Rs. 112112226 thousand, Rs. 115628185 thousand and Rs. 155456128 thousand during 2015-16 to 2017-18 respectively.

Iron Ore production in Chhattisgarh was 34546 thousand tonne during 2017-18, up by 3.79% against 33285 thousand tonne during 2016-17; whereas it was 26718 thousand tonne during 2015-16. Its value was Rs. 52780037 thousand, Rs. 60676299 thousand and Rs. 81490207 thousand during 2015-16 to 2017-18 respectively.

Production of Iron Ore was 25036, 26483 and 28724 thousand tonne in Karnataka from 2015-16 to 2017-18 respectively. Annual growth of 5.78% and 8.46% has been seen in production of Iron Ore in Karnataka during 2016-17 and 2017-18 respectively over its previous year. In value term it was Rs. 34659850 thousand, Rs. 44516152 thousand and Rs. 70398115 thousand during 2015-16 to 2017-18 respectively.

During 2017-18, Iron Ore production was 21848 thousand tonne in Jharkhand and 8040 thousand tonne in Goa. We have observed annual growth of 2.93% and -12.32% in production of Iron Ore in Jharkhand and Goa respectively during 2017-18 over 2016-17.
