Production of Olefins Petrochemicals Building Blocks from 2010-11 to 2017-18

Petrochemical products namely Ethylene, Propylene and Butadiene were produced under Building Blocks-Olefins group during 2010-11 to 2017-18. Production of Ethylene was 2665.02 thousand metric tonne during 2010-11. It has increased by 24.56% to 3319.66 thousand metric tonne in 2011-12 over 2010-11. We have seen annual growth of 5% in Ethylene production to 4222.68 thousand metric tonne during 2017-18 versus 4021.73 thousand metric tonne during 2016-17.

Production of Propylene was 2981.24 thousand metric tonne during 2010-11. It has increased by 19.65% to 3567.06 thousand metric tonne during 2011-12 over 2010-11. Annual growth of 74 basis points has been observed in Propylene production to 4457.91 thousand metric tonne during 2017-18 against 4425.21 thousand metric tonne during 2016-17. Production of Butadiene was 242.05 thousand metric tonne during 2010-11. It has increased by 3.11% to 249.57 thousand metric tonne during 2011-12 over 2010-11. We have observed annual decline of -4.31% in Butadiene production from 347.36 thousand metric tonne during 2016-17 to 332.38 thousand metric tonne during 2017-18.

Maximum annual growth of 24.56% and 19.65% has been found in 2011-12 in Production of Ethylene and Propylene respectively during the period under consideration. Maximum annual growth of 43.43% has been seen in 2015-16 in Production of Butadiene during the period under consideration.
