Annual Rainfall in Tamil Nadu Subdivision during 1901 to 2017

Annual rainfall of 960.3 mms was there in Tamil Nadu subdivision during 1901. It has increased by 18.53% to 1138.2 mms in 1902 over 1901. Annual growth of 14.39% has been observed in annual rainfall in Tamil Nadu subdivision to 855.1 mms during 1951 against 747.5 mms during 1950.

We have seen annual decline of -50.27%% in annual rainfall in Tamil Nadu subdivision from 972 mms during 2000 to 483.4 mms during 2001. Annual rainfall in Tamil Nadu subdivision was 973 mms during 2017, up by 81.87% versus 535 mms during 2016.

In Tamil Nadu subdivision; maximum annual rainfall of 1365.3 mms and minimum annual rainfall of 318 mms has been found in 2005 and 2002 respectively during the period under consideration. During the last 10 years from 2008 to 2017, we have seen maximum annual rainfall of 1204.6 mms in 2015 and minimum annual rainfall of 535 mms in 2016 in Tamil Nadu subdivision. Maximum monthly rainfall of 102.5 mms observed in May-2016 during the year 2016 and 165.3 mms seen in September-2017 during the year 2017 in Tamil Nadu subdivision.
