Expenditure incurred for Maintenance of National Highways in India from 2014-15 to 2017-18

Expenditure incurred for maintenance of National Highways in India was Rs. 2654.78 crore during 2017-18, up by 6.06% against Rs. 2502.99 crore during 2016-17. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to expenditure incurred for maintenance of National Highways during 2017-18 were Maharashtra, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Kerala and Bihar.

Expenditure of Rs. 276.21 crore had been incurred in Maharashtra for maintenance of National Highways during 2016-17. It has plunged by -27.23% to Rs. 200.99 crore during 2017-18 over 2016-17. In Mizoram there was expenditure of Rs. 125.25 crore for maintenance of National Highways during 2017-18, up by 87.3% versus Rs. 66.87 crore during 2016-17. Annual growth of 103.37% has been observed in expenditure incurred in Meghalaya for maintenance of National Highways to Rs. 122.37 crore during 2017-18 above Rs. 60.17 crore during 2016-17. Maximum annual growth of 56.94%, 96.27% and 150.28% has been seen in 2015-16 in expenditure incurred in Maharashtra, Mizoram and Meghalaya respectively for maintenance of National Highways during the period under consideration.

We have seen annual growth of 8.74% in expenditure incurred in Kerala for maintenance of National Highways from Rs. 91.18 crore during 2016-17 to Rs. 99.15 crore during 2017-18. Maximum annual growth of 31.42% has been found in 2016-17 in expenditure incurred in Kerala for maintenance of National Highways during the period under consideration. Expenditure of Rs. 88.68 crore had been incurred in Bihar for maintenance of National Highways during 2016-17. It has increased by 9.71% to Rs. 97.29 crore during 2017-18 over 2016-17. Maximum annual growth of 9.71% has been seen in 2017-18 in expenditure incurred in Bihar for maintenance of National Highways during the period under consideration.
