Progress Update of Tamil Nadu’s Open Government Data Portal as on 31-07-2019

Open Government Data Portal of Tamil Nadu https://tn.data.gov.in/ is meant for supporting Open Data initiative of Government of Tamil Nadu, which presently has 13,692 resources / datasets under 792 catalogs covering across 51 departments.

The Statistical Hand Book (SHB) for the year 2011 from the Department of Economics and Statistics (DES), has been added in shareable formats in the TNOGD portal. With this addition, public can access 8 years data of SHB’s from the year 2011 to 2018, covering the major 42 sectors of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Education, Health, Judicial Administration, Industries, Road and Transport etc.

In addition, the datasets from the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) have been updated under the categories indicated below:

• Allotted Strength in Sports Hostels under SDAT 2017-18
• Allotted Strength for Hostels under Centre of Excellence (COE) under SDAT 2017-18
• Allotted Strength for Sports Hostel of Excellence (SHE) under SDAT2017-18
• District wise List of Hostels District wise and Category wise under SDAT 2017-18
• District wise Sports Infrastructure facilities with Contact details available under SDAT 2017-18

Also, the datasets from Tamil Nadu Minerals Limited (TAMIN) have been published as detailed below:

• Various Mineral Products and its detailed uses by TAMIN
• List of Contact details of Offices and Showrooms of TAMIN

Two review meetings have been conducted with the officials of 30 depts to brief them on the features of the TNOGD portal and the necessity towards the contribution of open shareable data from these depts. within a time frame.
