Trained Teachers in Higher Secondary Schools during 2008-11

India has witnessed a decreasing trend in Trained Teachers in Higher Secondary Schools during 2008-2011. In 2008-09, percentage of Trained Teachers in Higher Secondary Schools was 92% across the country, which decreased to 91% in 2010-11. Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, A. and N. Islands, Delhi and Lakshadweep had 100% Trained Teachers in Higher Secondary Schools in 2008-09 and 2010-11.

The lowest percentage of Trained Teachers in Higher Secondary Schools was observed in Assam (29%) in 2008-09 and 2010-11 as compared to other states. Fourteen States viz. Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura and Uttarakhand below the National estimate (91%) in 2010-11.
