Top 5 Products with respect to Import of Organic Chemicals during 2017-18

The top 5 Products with respect to import of Organic Chemicals during 2017-18 were Methanol, Acetic Acid, Phenol, Acetone and Citric Acid.

Annual growth of 8.91% has been observed in import of Methanol to 1783293 metric tonne during 2017-18 against 1637457 metric tonne during 2016-17. In value term it was Rs. 295762 lakh and Rs. 400004 lakh during 2016-17 and 2017-18 respectively. Highest annual growth of 47.48% has been seen in 2011-12 in import of Methanol during 2010-11 to 2017-18. Import of Acetic Acid was 847808 metric tonne during 2016-17. It has increased by 4.33% to 884515 metric tonne during 2017-18 over 2016-17. Its value was Rs. 193958 lakh during 2016-17 and Rs. 290624 lakh during 2017-18. Highest annual growth of 22.3% has been found in 2011-12 in import of Acetic Acid during 2010-11 to 2017-18. Import of Phenol was 288572 metric tonne during 2017-18, up by 2.26% versus 282187 metric tonne during 2016-17. In value term it was Rs. 176601 lakh and Rs. 202842 lakh during 2016-17 and 2017-18 respectively. Highest annual growth of 24.31% has been observed in 2015-16 in import of Phenol during 2010-11 to 2017-18.

The import of Acetone and Citric Acid was 135887 metric tonne and 81681 metric tonne respectively during 2016-17. We have seen annual growth of 8.09% in import of Acetone to 146878 metric tonne and 3.16% in import of Citric Acid to 84262 metric tonne during 2017-18 against 2016-17. The value of Acetone and Citric Acid was Rs. 74975 lakh and Rs. 45489 lakh respectively during 2017-18.
