Top 10 States/UTs in terms of funds allocated under National Rural Drinking Water Programme during 2015-16 & 2016-17

In total funds allocated under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in India during the year 2015-16 and 2016-17 was Rs. 4175.71 Crores and Rs. 4135.4 Crores respectively. There was a growth of -0.97% during 2016-17 over 2015-16 in terms of funds allocated in total. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of funds allocated under NRDWP during 2016-17 were: Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.

Funds allocated in Rajasthan under NRDWP was Rs. 609.59 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 14.74% of the total funds allocated under NRDWP during the same period. Funds allocated in Uttar Pradesh under NRDWP was Rs. 403.27 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 9.75% of the total funds allocated under NRDWP during the same period. Funds allocated in Maharashtra under NRDWP was Rs. 346.16 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 8.37% of the total funds allocated under NRDWP during the same period. Funds allocated in Karnataka under NRDWP was Rs. 298.92 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 7.23% of the total funds allocated under NRDWP during the same period. Funds allocated in Gujarat under NRDWP was Rs. 238.12 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 5.76% of the total funds allocated under NRDWP during the same period.

These top 5 states accounted for 45.85% of the total funds allocated under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in India as a whole during the year 2016-17.

Funds allocated under NRDWP in Assam was Rs. 227.84 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 5.51% of the total funds allocated under NRDWP during the same period. Funds allocated under NRDWP in Jammu & Kashmir was Rs. 227.5 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 5.5% of the total funds allocated under NRDWP during the same period. Funds allocated under NRDWP in Bihar was Rs. 217.08 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 5.25% of the total funds allocated under NRDWP during the same period. Funds allocated under NRDWP in Madhya Pradesh was Rs. 200.28 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 4.84% of the total funds allocated under NRDWP during the same period. Funds allocated under NRDWP in West Bengal was Rs. 199.27 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 4.82% of the total funds allocated under NRDWP during the same period.

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 71.77% of the total funds allocated under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in India as a whole during the year 2016-17.
