Top 10 States/UTs in Number of Workers in Factories under ASI in 2012-13

India had 222120 factories under Annual Survey of Industries (ASI). Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) covers all factories registered under Sections 2m(i) and 2m(ii) of the Factories Act, 1948 i.e. those factories employing 10 or more workers using power; and those employing 20 or more workers without using power. All India had 10051626 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries (ASI).

Tamil Nadu had 1602447 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries, which was 15.94% of the total 10051626 workers in factories covered under ASI in India. Maharashtra had 1233341 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries, which was 12.27% of the total 10051626 workers in factories covered under ASI in India. Gujarat had 1046462 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries, which was 10.41% of the total 10051626 workers in factories covered under ASI in India. Karnataka had 665597 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries, which was 6.62% of the total 10051626 workers in factories covered under ASI in India. Uttar Pradesh had 635759 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries, which was 6.32% of the total 10051626 workers in factories covered under ASI in India.

Telangana had 585728 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries, which was 5.83% of the total 10051626 workers in factories covered under ASI in India. West Bengal had 537284 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries, which was 5.35% of the total 10051626 workers in factories covered under ASI in India. Punjab had 468127 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries, which was 4.66% of the total 10051626 workers in factories covered under ASI in India. Haryana had 431425 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries, which was 4.29% of the total 10051626 workers in factories covered under ASI in India. Andhra Pradesh had 406048 workers in factories categorized under Annual Survey of Industries, which was 4.04% of the total 10051626 workers in factories covered under ASI in India.
