Top 10 States/UTs with respect to Release of Funds for Health Melas under National Health Mission during 2018-19

The Government approves activity of organising Health Melas in Parliamentary Constituencies based on proposals received from the State Government and normally releases lump sum funds for activities approved under the National Health Mission (NHM) including for Health Melas, wherever approved.

During 2018-19, the amount released for Health Melas under NHM was Rs. 33.09 crore in India. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to release of funds for Health Melas under NHM during 2018-19 were Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Assam.

The fund released for Health Melas under NHM was Rs. 5.36 crore for Uttar Pradesh during 2018-19, which accounted 16.2% of the total funds released for Health Melas under NHM in India. There was release of Rs. 3.31 crore for Maharashtra for Health Melas under NHM during 2018-19. It accounted 10% of the total funds released for Health Melas under NHM in India during the same period. The amount of Rs. 2.91 crore was released for West Bengal for Health Melas under NHM during 2018-19, which accounted 8.79% of the total funds released for Health Melas under NHM in India.

There was release of Rs. 2.71 crore and Rs. 2.65 crore for Tamil Nadu and Bihar respectively for Health Melas under NHM during 2018-19. Tamil Nadu accounted for 8.19% and Bihar accounted for 8.01% of the total funds released for Health Melas under NHM in India during 2018-19.

The fund released for Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Assam was Rs. 1.92, 1.79, 1.72, 1.52 and 1.49 crore respectively for Health Melas under NHM during 2018-19. The aforementioned top 10 states accounted for 76.7% of the total funds released for Health Melas under NHM in India as a whole during 2018-19.
