Top 10 States/UTs with respect to Doctors in Position at Primary Health Centres in Urban Areas As on 31st March 2019

As on 31st March 2019, there were 4,457 doctors in position at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in urban areas of India. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to doctors in position at PHCs in urban areas as on 31-03-2019 were Delhi, West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The number of doctors in position at PHCs in urban areas of Delhi was 711 as on 31st March 2019, which accounted 15.95% of the total doctors at PHCs in urban areas of India. There were 647 doctors in position at PHCs in urban areas of West Bengal as on 31-03-2019. It accounted 14.52% of the total doctors at PHCs in urban areas of India as on the same period. The number of doctors in position at PHCs in urban areas of Telangana was 470 as on 31st March 2019, which accounted 10.55% of the total doctors at PHCs in urban areas of India.

There were 381 and 375 doctors in position at PHCs in urban areas of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh respectively as on 31st March 2019. Karnataka accounted for 8.55% and Andhra Pradesh accounted for 8.41% of the total doctors at PHCs in urban areas of India as on 31-03-2019.

As on 31st March 2019, the number of doctors in position at PHCs in urban areas of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh was 282, 257, 240, 171 and 118 respectively. These aforementioned top 10 States/UTs accounted for 81.94% of the total doctors at PHCs in urban areas of India as a whole as on 31-03-2019.
