Top 10 States/UTs in terms of Houses Constructed under Rural Housing Scheme (PMAY-G) from 2016-17 to 2018-19

To achieve the objective of “Housing for All” by 2022, the erstwhile rural housing scheme Indira Awaas Yojna (IAY) has been restructured into Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna – Gramin (PMAY-G) w.e.f 1st April, 2016. Under PMAY-G financial assistance of Rs. 1.2 lakh in plain Areas and Rs.1.3 lakh in hilly States including North Eastern States, difficult areas and IAP Districts is provided for construction of houses to the beneficiaries identified from Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC), 2011 list, and as verified by Gram Sabha. In first the Phase, 1.0 crore houses are targeted for construction over a period of three years i.e. from 2016-17 to 2018-19.

Total Number of Houses Constructed in India was 10879112 under Rural Housing Scheme (PMAY-G) from 2016-17 to 2018-19 (as on 31.01.2019). The top 10 States in term of Number of Houses Constructed under Rural Housing Scheme (PMAY-G) from 2016-17 to 2018-19 were Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Assam.

Number of Houses Constructed in Madhya Pradesh was 1642835 under Rural Housing Scheme (PMAY-G) from 2016-17 to 2018-19. It accounted 15.10% of the total Number of Houses Constructed from 2016-17 to 2018-19. The Number of Houses Constructed in West Bengal was 1633592 from 2016-17 to 2018-19, which accounted 15.02% of the total Number of Houses Constructed under Rural Housing Scheme (PMAY-G) from 2016-17 to 2018-19. The Number of Houses Constructed in Uttar Pradesh was 1482400 under Rural Housing Scheme (PMAY-G) from 2016-17 to 2018-19. It accounted 13.63% of the total Number of Houses Constructed from 2016-17 to 2018-19. The Number of Houses Constructed was 1415194 in Bihar and 849270 in Odisha under Rural Housing Scheme (PMAY-G) from 2016-17 to 2018-19, which accounted 13.01% and 7.81% of the total Number of Houses Constructed from 2016-17 to 2018-19.

There were 684046 Number of Houses Constructed in Chhattisgarh under Rural Housing Scheme (PMAY-G) from 2016-17 to 2018-19. It accounted 6.29% of the total Number of Houses Constructed from 2016-17 to 2018-19. The Number of Houses Constructed was 654424 in Rajasthan, 534957 in Jharkhand, 490671 in Maharashtra and 415734 in Assam under Rural Housing Scheme (PMAY-G) from 2016-17 to 2018-19, which accounted 6.02%, 4.29%, 4.51% and 3.82% of the total Number of Houses Constructed from 2016-17 to 2018-19.
