Top 10 States/UTs in terms of Funds released under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana during April 2018 to January 2019

Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) aims at providing health insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to over 10.74 crores poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries). There was release of Rs. 766.71 crore in India under PMJAY during April 2018 to January 2019 (until 28.01.2019). The top 10 States/UTs in terms of release of funds made under PMJAY during April 2018 to January 2019 (until 28.01.2019) were West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra.

The release of fund was Rs. 193.35 crore to West Bengal under PMJAY during April 2018 to January 2019, which accounted 25.22% of the total fund released in India during the same period. An amount of Rs. 114.44 crore was released to Chhattisgarh under PMJAY during April 2018 to January 2019. It accounted 14.93% of the total fund released in India during April 2018 to January 2019. There was release of Rs. 88.27 crore to Bihar under PMJAY during April 2018 to January 2019, which accounted 11.51% of the total fund released in India during the same period.

Fund released was Rs. 77.5 crore to Gujarat and Rs. 48.48 crore to Jharkhand under PMJAY during April 2018 to January 2019. Gujarat and Jharkhand accounted for 6.32% and 4.78% respectively of the total fund released in India during April 2018 to January 2019.

An amount of Rs. 36.66, 32.71, 27.57, 26.81 and 22.55 crore was released to Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra respectively under PMJAY during April 2018 to January 2019. These above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 87.18% of the total fund released in India as a whole during April 2018 to January 2019 (until 28.01.2019).
