Top 10 Missions /Schemes with respect to Expenditure incurred under Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare during 2016-17

The Government of India supports the State Government through various Central Sector and Centrally Sponsored Schemes, for which financial assistance is provided to Agriculture Sector. Under the schemes, funds are released to the State Governments who in turn provide subsidy to the beneficiaries as per approved norms.

Top 10 Missions /Schemes with respect to Expenditure incurred under Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare during 2016-17 were National Crop Insurance Programme, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), National Food Security Mission, National Mission on Agriculture Extension and Technology, Integrated Scheme on Agriculture Marketing, National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, National Mission on Oilseeds & Oil Palm and Integrated Scheme on Agriculture Census and Statistics.

Expenditure incurred under National Crop Insurance Programme was Rs. 14650.83 crore during 2016-17, up by 391.14% versus Rs. 2983.04 crore during 2015-16. Whereas the expenditure was Rs. 2598.35 crore during 2014-15 for the same. We have seen annual decline of -1.22% in Expenditure incurred under RKVY from Rs. 3940.01 crore during 2015-16 to Rs. 3891.86 crore during 2016-17, whereas it was Rs. 8443.2 crore during 2014-15. Expenditure incurred under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana was Rs. 1991.25 crore during 2016-17, up by 27.98% against Rs. 1555.94 crore during 2015-16. Whereas the expenditure was Rs. 8443.2 crore during 2014-15 for the same.

Annual growth of -12.01% and 10.64% has been observed in Expenditure incurred under MIDH and National Food Security Mission respectively during 2016-17 over 2015-16. Expenditure incurred under MIDH and National Food Security Mission was Rs. 1493.07 crore and Rs. 1286.03 crore respectively during 2016-17.

Expenditure incurred under National Mission on Agriculture Extension and Technology, Integrated Scheme on Agriculture Marketing, National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, National Mission on Oilseeds & Oil Palm and Integrated Scheme on Agriculture Census and Statistics was Rs. 1215.27, 782.49, 658.35, 327.5 and 172.18 crore respectively during 2016-17. We have seen annual growth of 17.63%, 37.21%, -6.14%, 7.09% and -21.23% in Expenditure incurred under National Mission on Agriculture Extension and Technology, Integrated Scheme on Agriculture Marketing, National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, National Mission on Oilseeds & Oil Palm and Integrated Scheme on Agriculture Census and Statistics respectively during 2016-17 over 2015-16.
